About Home Energy Calculators
Last updated June 9, 2026
An electric bill arrives in dollars, but everything in the house runs in watts and hours. The calculators on this site bridge that gap one appliance at a time: wattage, times hours of use, times your rate per kilowatt-hour, equals what it actually costs.
What can be costed
There are 6 of them: Appliance Running Cost Calculator, Solar Panel Payback Calculator, Generator Sizing Calculator, LED Savings Calculator, Phantom Load Calculator, and EV vs Gas Cost Calculator.
Every step of the chain, visible
No black-box “cost to run” figures. Each result is broken into the watts, the hours, the rate, and the dollars that fall out, so a wrong input is easy to spot. Electricity rates default to a typical figure and should be replaced with the rate on your own bill.
Big decisions need more than a widget
Payback math for solar or a generator is a planning sketch, not an engineering quote. Estimates here are not financial, tax, or professional energy advice — confirm big decisions (like solar) with a licensed professional.
